Women of Troy is a powerful artistic catharsis that uses the Trojan War as a universal metaphor
for timeless human tragedies. The result of two years of work, it brings together 15 theatre artists
from Kosovo and Serbia, united through a long-standing collaboration between Artpolis and
Serbian artists. Directed by Zana Hoxha and Maja Mitić, with a script by Shpëtim Selmani, the
performance reimagines Euripides through a contemporary and feminist lens. The figures of
Hecuba, Cassandra, and Andromache embody both the suffering and the strength of women
affected by war—then and now. These protagonists symbolize female resilience in the face of
violence, displacement, and injustice. Women of Troy reminds us that the wounds of war remain
alive in the survivors and in their struggle for dignity and justice.
